Top 10 vegetarian food in Toa Payoh you must try
13 places on OneHungryHippo · reviewed October 2026
Toa Payoh packs thirteen vegetarian places into a walkable grid of HDB blocks, and nearly all of them are cheap coffee shop stalls. The numbered lorongs matter here: Lorong 4 alone has Gan En Vegetarian, Eco Sen Vegetarian Food, Elephant Mamak Stall and D'life, and Lorong 7 has both Ru Yi Vegetarian and Ji Xiang Vegetarian. Toa Payoh MRT reaches the closest stalls in one to nine minutes, and Braddell MRT is the better station for the Lorong 1, 2 and 4 stalls to the south.
The stalls near the station are the easiest. ABC Vegetarian on Lorong 2 and Switch 2 Vegetarian on Lorong 6 are each about a minute from Toa Payoh MRT. ABC does economy rice from $1 for white rice and $1.30 for a vegetable dish, with eight treasure porridge at $3.50, and is open daily from 6am to 10pm. Switch 2 sells golden chicken rice at $5.50, char siew rice at $5.50 and a $3.50 value meal.
Elephant Mamak Stall at Blk 93 Lorong 4 is the most unusual find: a vegetarian Malay and Indian stall, five minutes from Braddell MRT, selling biryani bowls, roti canai, curry roti and sambal petai, with most dishes around $5. Ji Xiang Vegetarian on Lorong 7 also lists briyani alongside lor mee and char siew noodles, and Mini Green Lok Lok on Lorong 8 does vegetarian lok lok skewers and a hong shao noodle at $5.
For a sit-down meal there are two restaurants. D'life on Lorong 4 is about six minutes from Toa Payoh MRT, open daily from 10am to 10pm, and says its food is made without the five pungent vegetables. Leaf Corner at Tai Seng Point on Irving Place is a minute from Tai Seng MRT and has a menu of Thai-style abalone mushroom, mock Szechuan chicken and black pepper brisket at around $17 to $20.
