16 places on OneHungryHippo · reviewed October 2026
Vegetarian food in Singapore is dominated by Chinese Buddhist cooking, but the local food people queue for, such as nasi lemak, mee rebus, laksa, rendang and biryani, has vegetarian versions too. They are scattered and easy to miss. This guide collects the places in our directory that cook Malay, Indian, Indonesian and Peranakan (Nonya) dishes without meat.
For Peranakan food, Coco Veggie Nyonya at Marina Square has a Singapore laksa at $12.90, vegetarian satay bee hoon and Nyonya kapitan curry with veggie chicken. Botanict in Clementi serves Nonya and Western dishes in bento sets, including ayam buah keluak and babi pongteh, and states that its food is allium-free.
For Malay and Indonesian food, Plant Based Malay Cuisine at Bendemeer Road in Boon Keng is a stall that rotates its noodles by the day: mee rebus on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, and mee soto on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, along with nasi lemak and laksa. It is open daily from 6am to 3pm. V Coffee in Geylang lists a rendang curry pandan nasi lemak set at $7.80, mee rebus and laksa. Warung Ijo at Tai Seng serves Indonesian dishes such as ayam penyet, tahu telor and lontong sayur, and states that its food has no onion, garlic or alcohol. Pawon Vegetarian on Upper Thomson Road is known for its nasi tumpeng set and lontong, and is open Monday, Tuesday and Friday to Sunday.
For Indian food, Gopal's The Holy Cow in Kaki Bukit serves masala dosa, gobi manchurian, paneer manchurian, pav bhaji and kottu prata, and states that no alliums are used. Elephant Mamak Stall in Toa Payoh makes biryani bowls, roti canai and curry roti for around $5, and Seva Cafe at Fortune Centre lists nasi biryani, nasi lemak, Indian rojak and kambing soup. Zi Zai Vegetarian in Yishun adds roti prata and sambal dishes to a Chinese menu. Several Chinese vegetarian places also do biryani, including Uniquely Vegetarian at Shenton House, Ji Xiang in Toa Payoh and Bishan Vegetarian Stall at the Bishan Bus Interchange, and Green Leaf Cuisine in Sengkang is known for thosai and a vegetarian curry mutton brown rice.
